Proposed In-Person Post-Election Ideas to Listen, Be Informed and Stay Connected:
Coffee, Tea + Conversation
(Right Proper)
1
Lets meet at Right Proper over coffee or tea and discuss the issues we all face in the 5B03 area of Brookland, along with the Great Brookland Area. Caffeine can bring us all together. Or maybe a pint after 6.
Brookland Micro-Business Salon
(The Harp)
2
As a micro-business owner myself, I understand the challenges we all face with regard to being an indie business here in Brookland and DC At large. Im interested in establishing a regular connection with the people who live and operate a business (Maker/Micro) in our area. And bonus: Ruari’s Irish Scones are killer.
Senior Connect
( Woodridge Library )
3
Many of us move to a neighborhood because of its beauty and vibe. So many Seniors that live in our community helped build that flavor we love about Brookland. I’d be looking to create a group to stay connected to them and welcome their input related to our neighborhood. Their wisdom is invaluable. And who doesn’t love being in a space filled with books!
Moms + Dads with Strollers Club
( Cool Coffee)
4
Brookland is full of Mom, Dads, strollers (and pups!) and meeting with parents regularly to hear from young families on issues most pressing to them is of high value. Plus I would want to meet your dog.
Know Your Officers: MPD Meet + Greet
(DCTV)
5
My hope is we as a community can keep a healthy connection with the Officers that make up the 5th District MPD. And DCTV is a wonderful resource for these types of meetings. Nantz and Julia are fantastic to work with! They offer so much to this community!
This is just a start in thinking of ways to stay connected to 5B03 and the neighbors who live here. There are other wonderful businesses and places to meet and support as well all up and down 12th Street. Other ideas may include some fun events partnering with other ANCs and groups, and of course, staying connected with our own Ward 5 Councilmember Parker – and his team (a few who live right here in Brookland!)
