I am a long time resident of Brookland. 22 years. I  bought my first house in 2004 and never left. I simply love Brookland and am firmly Rooted in Community.

I have owned 2 micro-business here. The first a Creative Design Agency that I operated out of my house. The second, my current business of 19yrs (Pearl Fine Teas) operating out of another local business: TasteMakers on 10th St NE. You may know it from seeing us at the Monroe Street Market Farmers Market every Saturday. If you had a cuppa tea at our pals at Zekes on RIA, or Right Proper, that was mine.

You may recognize me from my long time neighborhood civic work and advocacy (14yrs), my giant sunglasses and ponytail, or the star lights hanging from my front porch.  

I’m a Tea Master and spent over 4 years training in 4 countries to earn that. I am an avid local gardener; cat mom to Cosmo + Twig; clean air, water and animal advocate; green space + tree lover; tea drinker; old school bike (with a basket) rider; hardcover book collector; evening reader, morning walker and believer in neighbors, neighborhoods – and being neighborly.
