Welcome to “The Road to ANC 5b03” Blog.

Hello Brookland! First blog post. Highly unusual, I know. But here’s what happened…

I launched my ANC 5B03 Candidate website this morning. Around 830am or so. I chose today, Tuesday October 14th as my goal which meant I had to honor that deadline and get it done. I’d procrastinated, and then was away for 5 consecutive days and had to dive in. It’s a work in progress and I’ll be adding more to it over the coming days. Including this blog.

In building the pages it occurred to me that having a blog might help many of you who don’t know me already, get to know me in real time. Felt way more interesting and authentic outside the usual portals and chaos of Facebook and Instagram, and even Next Door.

Maybe you’ll stick around, and if you do, I hope I can shed some light on who I am, why I love Brookland, and why I finally decided to run to be your ANC for 5B03.

Tomorrow I’ll be setting out on foot with a young neighbor, Maggie, who lives over on Newton Street to hand out some palm cards. We might knock on your door. Hope to meet you, but if we miss you – please check out the section above called COME MEET ME and maybe we can connect at one of the upcoming events leading up to Election Day on November 3rd.

Are you registered to vote? I hope so. (check here)

Here’s a sobering fact: Only 10% of residents in Washington DC voted in the primary.
